Rich3rd and Claudias trip to Les Arcs
….. and the text to my mate Jack said "Scorchio, dusty, fast fire roads, forest single track, 1000m+ descents, no breaking bumps anywhere & Grimbergen for afters. Missing Robinson's though!"

OK, it's taken a while to sort this out, slap writs no excuses. Anyway July 2010 brought Rich 3rd and Claudia a new summer alpine MTB playground to explore. Bourg St Maurice was our base for a week of full-on high altitude biking in the mountains around Les Arcs. This was a new adventure as Morzine is our usual destination, so it was with some trepidation that we ventured to pastures new, but we weren't to be disappointed.
Not that many pictures this year (we were too busy having fun) but it was a classic biking trip. The weather was 35oC+ and we didn't get rained on once on the trails (an alpine first for me). The top trail start at 2650m and our apartment was at 800m, beats anything Morzine can offer in distance! In between we covered all the marked trails before venturing onto some sweet 'off piste' stuff.
Our favourite trails were the 'Chapel N.D des Vernettes' & the insane Black 8 back down to Bourg. Difficult to describe but the lower wooded trails are like Aston Hill turbo'd up on the latest legal high!
The video is taken on the Cachette Downhill course into Arc1600, a classic track not mullered to bits with braking bumps like the Les Gets downhills, flowing, bermed and rooty. Sweet. Jack (my mate from work who I've been riding in Morzine with for the past 14 years) would have loved it.
The town of Bourg doesn't quite have the vibe of Morzine, its missing the 'Bar Robinson' post ride feel, but I'd recommend it to anyone wanting some big lift assisted MTB fun.
