MTB Berkhamsted goes riding in the snow - Friday 18th Dec

The snow falls and the office boys take a unanimous decision that they need to 'work from home' and go out and play. So while the rest of the chaps earned an honest crust Dave and I headed out into the cold for a ride in the first real snow of the winter.

Dodging kids on sledges we headed up Sunnyside and across the common on the road, dropping down to the Alford Arms. Manfully we managed to avoid the temptation to stop for a swifty and carried on up the road out of Frithsden and to the college.

On the open field the snow was drifting to axle depth, making the going hard and it was a trudge past the college but through to Thunderdell and the going was better, the branches around us heavy with snow and the sound of tyres on ground deadened and muffled.

From there we hacked back on the road to a well earned refresher at the Riser. Well, where else did you think we'd end up?
